Editor introduction

Dr. Zhang received a MS degree from Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, PhD from Peking University and a MS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and conducted his postdoctoral research at UNC Chapel Hill and Duke University. He is currently a chief scientific officer and co-director of Global Clinical and Translational Research Institute, Bethesda, MD and holds adjunct professorships at the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University in Changsha and Peking University Huilongguan Clinical Medical School in Beijing, China. Dr. Zhang is a member of the International Society for Developmental Origins of Health and Disease, the Society for Neuroscience and the Society for Biological Psychiatry and the International Society of Psychiatric Genetics; and he has authored and co-authored more 80 peer-reviewed articles with more than 5,000 citations; and his research interests include etiology of human complex disorders and traits, pharmacogenomics and research methodology toward precision medicine and translation research.
